Rejoicing in the Lord

It's been a bit of a rough evening (well, after a really fun time of watching Ella Enchanted with my parents, that is!) , just as Caleb and I've been talking over the induction and really praying for wisdom in knowing whether to go ahead with it on Friday or wait a few more days. Sometimes it just gets really frustrating wondering why God won't bring our baby now. I was feeling kind of depressed, and felt like He brought this passage from Habakkuk on my mind that I'd read recently so I went back and re-read it again. Even knowing that his county is going to be taken over by invaders soon, he still rejoices in the Lord:
Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places.

It strikes me that that would be a much harder thing to wait for than a few days for our Baby Grace!

And thank you all for the encouraging comments and emails and phone calls; I know we've been really slow in responding right now, but we really appreciate them! :-)

Laura and Caleb, we're praying for you and for baby Grace. You're going to be great parents and I'm sure she'll be pleased to meet you face to face very soon! God will give you the wisdom you need, exactly when you need it. I'm glad you're feeling okay and able to spend some time with your family before the big day! Incidentally, another friend of mine had your same due date and still hasn't gone into labor and it's her third child.....

Laura and Caleb,
It's good to see you trusting the Lord in all of this. I am praying for wisdom for you as you think and pray through the decisions that need to be made. It's good to know that our Father is sovereign, and that our times are in His hands (Ps 31:15a).

Habakuk 2:3 is another good verse for times of waiting. The whole book is a really good reminder that the Lord's ways are not our ways--that He is still on His holy throne and not taken by surprise at anything that comes our way. He is good!

I love you both and am praying for you!

Boy, your 'commentators' are so spiritual !!
The Lord knows your not looking for a whole herd to be in your stall right now. He's got one, little, lamb just stashed off to the side for the moment. Right now it's dark and you can't see her- but, you can feel her and you are touching her; and really, really soon ... ... ... TA -Da !!
Here I am !! |:-O

And yes Laura, she'll be Daddy's girl !!
